Cousins invests in SpinMe’s 360 spin imaging technology
Cousins plans to enhance online customer experience by introducing new multicam 360 spin imaging technology and taking its product photography operation in-house.
One of the UK’s largest independent premium furniture retailers, with stores in Manchester, Birmingham and Dudley, Cousins has created a purpose-built studio to help give shoppers an instore experience when buying online. Workflow and imaging specialist SpinMe has been appointed to provide hardware and studio workflow software, as well as onsite training for Cousins’ staff.
Cousins will use SpinMe’s latest multicam 360 spin imaging technology to offer greater merchandising versatility on its website; giving customers the opportunity to take control of a single image and view a product from every possible angle. The multicam technique captures 48 images in less than a minute to create a high quality 360 spin photograph.
A bespoke multicam ‘bow rig’ and carousel turntable with a 2.8 metre platform has been built by SpinMe for Cousins to shoot the height and depth of large items of furniture such as dining tables, sofas and beds. Shoppers will be able to inspect close up detail of items in the same way they can instore.
Cousins is the first UK retailer to install the multicam bow rig setup.
“This is an investment in a long-term solution,” said John Shotton, Managing Director at Cousins. “We plan to photograph thousands of items from both current and future ranges. SpinMe’s technology will ensure we produce high-quality images while managing the production process and time-to-site more efficiently.”
Multicam is unique in the retail marketplace. It’s a joint venture between SpinMe and photographic hardware specialist PhotoRobot.
“Bringing its photography operation in-house will enable Cousins to have far more control over imaging processing,” said David Brint, CEO of SpinMe. “Workflow efficiency combined with the tools needed to produce rich media that inspires pre-purchase confidence will give Cousins a considerable competitive advantage.”
