Housebuilder to begin work on new Kirklees development
Local housebuilder, David Wilson Homes, has acquired land for a new housing development in Flockton, Kirklees, that will see the housebuilder construct 87 new homes, delivering £16,500,000 in economic output over its build period and underpinning over 42 jobs.
The new site, which will be named Chapel Lea, will be delivered across 6.5 acres of land in the village making a range of luxurious two, three and four bedroom homes available in the area.
Flockton was mentioned in the Domesday book with a description mentioning its ‘attractive chapel’, which led to the name Chapel Lea being chosen for the development. The particular chapel mentioned was that of St James the Great, a parish church that stands at the heart of the village of Flockton on Barnsley Road. Chapel Lea now reflects this church and Flockton’s history through its name.
As part of the build, David Wilson Homes will also invest in services to benefit the local community as part of its Section 106 contributions.
David Coe, Land Director at David Wilson Homes Yorkshire West, commented:
“It’s great that we’ve been able to acquire the 6.5 acre site in Flockton and work will commence shortly on the site to construct 87 new homes for local house hunters. We’re excited to see the new development taking shape over the coming months, and are looking forward to exploring further ways in which we can get involved with the local community.”
