London investment platform Angels Den targets North East startups and entrepreneurs

London-based online investment platform Angels Den is hoping to make a name for itself in the North East and has appointed Rivers Capital Partners to help spread its message.

As the firm’s regional representative Rivers is tasked with matching the platform, which supports early-stage companies that could potentially become the next big thing, with suitable firms in the region.

Angels Den says it differs from competitors as it ensures a lead investor is on board before it opens funding to a wider network of investors.

Rivers believes the collaboration allows it to further support investment activity to a growing number of startups and established SMEs in the North East.

Bill Morrow, Founder at Angels Den who will soon be in the region to discuss the new platform, said: “Angels Den had learned many lessons in its 10 years, the biggest of which is that if you just passively invest capital into deals without mentorship and contacts then you will probably lose most of your money.

“We are proud to enter into this agreement with Rivers as they are one of the few players in the UK market who understand this.

“We are proud that over 92% of all the deals we have funded in our ten years are still going, we believe this is what the ecosystem truly needs and also delivers above average returns to investors.”

Following the launch event Rivers will deliver a suite of seminars later this year to educate local entrepreneurs on investor readiness, promoting available sources of alternative funding and help businesses to identify and source investment.

Jonathan Gold, Managing Director at Rivers Capital, said: “Bill has built an amazing investor network and we are proud to be able to embed this in the North East. A unique opportunity for investors and entrepreneurs alike.”
