Doncaster logistics business set for expansion with funding from Barclays
Direct Express Logistics Doncaster Solutions Ltd has announced expansion plans with the purchase of premises with funding from Barclays.
Direct Express Logistics Doncaster Solutions Ltd is a courier service established 1997 by entrepreneur Karl Brown.
The business specialises in same day, overnight and international delivery and initially started with one van and a vision. The company now has four further sites at Cardiff, Glossop, Nottingham and Stockport serving over 2000 clients.
The funding from Barclays has assisted with the purchase of its previously rented headquarters at Alpha Court, Capitol Park, Thorne, Doncaster.
Karl Brown, managing director, Direct Express Logistics Doncaster Solutions Ltd, said: “Starting my own business was a dream and it’s been rewarding to see the business grow and our customer base and our geographical reach expand with services throughout the UK and overseas.
“We’re now part of the APC network which enables us to give our customers overnight delivery and we will continue with our investment plans in technology, vehicles and people to ensure the best service possible for our customers.
“It’s great that Barclays were able to help fund the new site which we will now own, securing the future of the business and taking us to the next phase of our growth plans.”
Direct Express Logistics Doncaster Solutions Ltd employ over 200 people across the five sites and turnover for the current year is expected to exceed £18m.
