Sisters set to launch new bar and pizzeria at Farsley's Sunny Bank Mills

The Sunny Bank Mills complex in Farsley, near Leeds, is set to welcome a brand-new bar and pizzeria.

Grumpy’s, created by sisters, Cassie and Alex Rogerson, will open its doors at the end of February.

The Sunny Bank Mills, where Emmerdale and Heartbeat have been filmed, has been transformed into a 21st century business centre and community hub.

Grumpy’s, named after Alex and Cassie’s father, will be located in the Old Combing building, next to the popular Mill Kitchen, and just off Town Street in the centre of Farsley.

The new business will serve craft beer, coffee, cocktails and Roma-style wood fired pizzas.

Alex explained: “We both gained our experience in the hospitality and tourism industries; Cassie in operations and myself in marketing and design.

“As working mums it was important for us to create a social space together as a family; to have the opportunity to do so in our home village feels really special.

“Whilst nearby Horsforth and Pudsey have a wealth of restaurants and bars, until now Farsley hasn’t had the retail space to expand its offering. We believe that the restoration of the Mills is putting Farsley back on the map and we are thrilled to be part of this thriving community.

“The kindness and flexibility of the landlords, the Gaunts, has made us feel at ease and proud to be part of such a success story.”

Alex added: “We hope that Grumpy’s USP will be our thin crust, wood fired pizzas which will be served alongside a selection of meat and cheese boards, bar snacks and desserts.

“We are planning on between 45-50 covers, with the opening hours from 12 noon until 11pm. We are looking to employ up to eight local staff. We are currently fitting our new bar and kitchen, and with all going well, we plan to launch in the last week of February.”
