Direct Food Ingredients Expands Its Transatlantic Operation
Macclesfield-based Direct Food Ingredients has expanded its US office with the appointment of two new full-time employees.
In February 2015 the ingredients business opened a Los Angeles office and a 75,000 square feet warehousing and distribution facility, with just one employee, and since then has gone from strength to strength.
Michelle Crosthwait and Taylor Presgrove have now joined Abe Cortez, US office Vice President at Direct Food Ingredients first international office. Together they formed a dedicated stateside team of three supporting the firm’s ambitious international expansion plans.
Customer service manager Michelle has over 20 years experience and has worked across a wealth of industries, taking on similar vital roles. Sales account manager Taylor graduated from The University of Oklahoma in 2014 and completed a management training program at Enterprise. Both are looking forward to using their expertise to help develop and grow Direct Food Ingredients in the US.
Since opening two years ago, the US office has turned over $1.1m in sales which has contributed to Direct Food Ingredients’ continuing success and saw the business announce an overall record turnover of £17.6m for 2016.
Steve Loake, founder and MD of Direct Food Ingredients commented: “We have had an overwhelming response from US manufacturers to our expansion into the American market. We have focussed our US offering on our two core areas of sports nutrition and nutraceuticals, and our stringent quality assured product range has fulfilled a gap in the market for comprehensively audited, premium products from trusted sources.
“Our future plans are now to build upon our strong presence in the States, and research and develop further opportunities for overseas expansion in other international territories.”
Direct Food Ingredients’ head office is located on Waters Green in the centre of Macclesfield (Cheshire, England). The business is an established leader in the importation, storage and distribution of functional foods, nutritional and sports ingredients as well as vitamin and mineral premixes.
