Nyenrode relocates International MBA programme to Amsterdam

From September 2017 Nyenrode Business Universiteit will run its full-time International MBA programme from central Amsterdam, in order to better integrate students with the European business community. The university’s flagship programme will be located at De Vijf Keijzers, a complex situated on the iconic Emperors Canal (Keizersgracht).

Prof. Dr. Miša Dzoljic, Rector Magnificus of Nyenrode, says the decision to relocate the programme from Nyenrode’s castle estate in Breukelen has been made in recognition of the wealth of professional opportunities available in the Amsterdam metropolitan area due to the country’s vastly improving economy.

“There will be more jobs for highly educated people which is an attractive prospect for those living in the Netherlands, and for people who would like to move to this region,” he says. “In order to serve those who prefer to study in Amsterdam we decided to bring our International MBA to this unique city.”

Connecting students with European business and trade

The relocation is part of a wider initiative to further immerse the programme within the European business landscape. Nyenrode already connects students with the Dutch labour market through activities such as ‘Meet the CEO’ sessions and careers events held through the school’s Career & Personal Development Centre.

Furthermore, in 2016 Nyenrode launched a series of European Immersion Modules on the International MBA, through which students can visit companies operating in a variety of sectors in key European capitals of; Brussels, Copenhagen, Dublin, Milan and Paris.

Moving closer to opportunities in the Netherlands

Increased interest from the school’s international students to become better connected with the European business environment during their studies, has also been instrumental in the programme’s recent developments.

For Prof. Dr. Dennis Vink Program Director of the International MBA, moving the programme to Amsterdam was a natural step.

“Company visits connect our students with business executives of top tier companies and institutions, providing a great opportunity for them to expand their network, learn about the latest developments in international business, and enables them to explore employment possibilities,” he says. “Our strong connection with the business world plays a big role in providing employment possibilities to our students. Currently, 82 percent of them find a job within three months after graduation. Living and studying in Amsterdam will bring our students even closer to such opportunities.”

Applications for Nyenrode’s IMBA September 2017 intake are currently open, and will close on August 1st. Further information can be found via the website.
