Gigya partners with Deutsche Post’s POSTID service
Gigya, the leader in customer identity management, and the world’s leading logistics and mail communications company, Deutsche Post DHL Group, have announced that the companies are establishing a new market concept for the secure determination of trusted digital identity that will make verified online identification as easy as a simple social login. The agreement will see Gigya connect and build its customer identity platform with Deutsche Post’s POSTID service.
This comes on the back of Deutsche Post DHL Group announcing it has completed the acquisition of UK Mail to strengthen its presence in the U.K. e-commerce market. The company has been on an expansion spree of late. In January 2016, it bought a 27.5 percent stake in French logistics firm Relais Colis, and in September it added ventures in Hungary and Slovenia, to expand its presence to 19 European countries.
The online services we all rely on for our everyday lives require the use of a trusted digital identity. Deutsche Post developed its digital POSTID service as an identity card for your digital life. It gives consumers the opportunity to verify their identity instantly, making registration as easy as logging into Facebook, but much more secure and trustworthy.
Usage scenarios for POSTID are numerous. For instance, content providers such as Netflix and Amazon can quickly and easily verify a customer’s legal age. Many areas stand to benefit, such as private marketplaces (where participants won’t have to worry about being issued fake profiles), insurance companies, car rental, healthcare and telecommunications providers. “The need for trusted online identity will be one of the defining issues of our time. Along with Deutsche Post we are working to play a pioneering role in this emerging technology,” says Richard Lack, Managing Director of EMEA at Gigya. “With POSTID, once data has been obtained and validated with the consumer’s consent, it can then be used in any future digital activities.”
