Steve Cram Raises the Bar at Payroll Conference

~~What do Steve Cram, Sambuca and Chickens have in common? The answer is that they all featured at the Cintra HR & Payroll Annual Conference 2017!

HR and Payroll specialists from around the country gathered in Newcastle to hear the latest on major legislative changes affecting the industry this year, but in true Cintra style got a lot more than they bargained for.

The conference kicked off with an ice breaker involving colour coded rubber gloves and clapping rhythms – a perfect introduction to a thorough presentation covering HR and payroll updates and a humorous (yes humorous!) update from HMRC.

In addition, delegates were also given a taste of how Neuro Linguistic Programming can help influencing techniques from Lysa Morisson of LMA Consulting. Lysa’s interactive and entertaining session explored what NLP is and how to both learn and use it to best advantage, personally and professionally.

Cintra CEO, Carsten Staehr outlined its plans for the future and showcased the latest enhancements to Cintra’s award winning flagship product, Cintra iQ. Attendees toasted Cintra’s 35th Anniversary with a standing ovation and a shot of Sambuca!

Delegates included many of Cintra’s clients from around the UK and Europe, including major names, such as key London insurance brokers Hiscox Syndicates, together with many others from the Education, Housing and private sectors.

After a day of in depth presentations which gave delegates much food for thought, the conference ended on a high, with an inspiring and thought-provoking presentation from Steve Cram, whose tale of the evolution of sport in Great Britain over recent years, together with an insight into the 2012 Olympics and its legacy, encouraged delegates to look at where they set the bar and the importance of continually trying to raise that bar.

As well as his passion for sport, Steve is also passionate about local charity COCO, which he co-founded in 2000. Coco is an international children’s charity that works with local communities in remote regions of the developing world to alleviate the poverty preventing children’s education. In honour of this, Cintra, supported by conference delegates, donated a grand total of £1,500 to help fund the development of a chicken farm with 1,000 chickens, which will generate income to sustain FOCUSSA Primary School in Kenya. COCO CEO Lucy Phillipson commented: “COCO is very thankful to Cintra for their generous support, both at the conference and throughout the year. The funds raised at the conference will be used for the development of a poultry project, which will generate income to cover the running costs of FOCUSSA Primary School, ensuring that the school can continue to benefit the community for years to come.”

Chris Tidy of Hiscox Syndicates commented: “Cintra’s conference is a diary highlight for me. The quality of the speakers is first rate: excellent coverage of important issues with much food for thought and a brilliant opportunity to meet other Cintra customers and staff. It just gets better every year!”
