Today Translations becomes latest London-based firm to expand into Sheffield

Today Translations, the London-based translation firm, has announced plans to expand its business in Sheffield.

The global languages services provider is set to open a new office in Sheffield in May 2017.

Today Translations joins other businesses, including Rank Group and Fragomen, which have ventured north from London to establish a new base in the city.

Launched in 2001 by CEO and founder Jurga Zilinskiene, the company currently has 28 staff members operating from London, Europe and Latin America.

Initially, seven new jobs will be created, from graduate-level project management positions and professional linguist positions through to a management role responsible for high-level project management and team leadership.

After the initial establishment phase, the firm is committed to growing its presence in Sheffield even further.

Claire Brown, operations manager at Today Translations, explained: “The company directors have had a personal connection with Sheffield for some years now, and have long been impressed with the city’s vibrant and diverse business community.

“Sheffield has an advantageous central location with strong transport links to our headquarters in London as well as other major cities in the Midlands and North of England.

“Finally, with its two respected universities, and a high proportion of students choosing to remain in Sheffield after graduation, the company anticipates the availability of the robust and highly-skilled workforce we require.”

Speaking of the company’s chosen location at Omnia, Courtwood House, Claire said: “We were impressed with the central location, the fresh and light appearance of the office, and the great communal space.

“The customer service from the Omnia staff regarding queries and finalising of the lease agreement has been both attentive and accommodating.”

Invest Sheffield, part of Creative Sheffield, the economic development arm of Sheffield City Council, supported Today Translations with the move. As well as identifying suitable premises and introducing the business to the University of Sheffield for graduate recruitment, Invest Sheffield provided benchmarking data for the city’s salary costs.
