Grand support for regional community projects

Two regional community projects are celebrating after being selected to receive a funding boost from a national housebuilder.

Aylsham St Giles Cricket Club and Abbey Kindergarten Pre-School have each been selected to receive £1,000 as part of the Persimmon Homes Anglia Community Champions scheme.

The national match-funding programme seeks to support groups and charities working to improve the quality of life or environment for local people.

Andrew Fuller, managing director for Persimmon Homes Anglia, said: “The Community Champions scheme aims to help groups and charities that make a real difference to the lives of local people.

“This month we are proud to be supporting two very deserving groups, who work hard to make a real difference to the lives of those in the community.”

Aylsham St Giles Cricket Club provides cricket training to a range of adult, junior and senior teams, and will use their £1,000 windfall towards new sporting equipment to help introduce young members of the community to the sport.

The club, which has a thriving adult’s team, aims to provide the best facilities and equipment possible and runs weekly coaching sessions for its junior and senior teams.

Abbey Kindergarten Pre-School is a local school based in Wymondham, which welcomes children aged 2 to school age. The pre-school is a charity organisation which is run by a committee of parents, and provides high quality care and education for children in the community.

The match-funding donation from Persimmon Homes will help fund a new outdoor shed as well as new equipment for its children.

Community groups, charities and good causes across the county have benefitted thanks to the donations from Persimmon Homes. Organisations can apply for funding by completing a simple online form at www.persimmonhomes.com/charity

The scheme invites local groups and charities to bid for cash from a £750,000 national fund, with two donations of up to £1,000 being made locally each month.

Persimmon Homes Anglia operates new homes developments across Norfolk and Suffolk.
