Bristol hotel scores with Champions League final

Hotels in Bristol are already benefitting from the fact that the 2017 Champions League final is being held in Cardiff.

Regarded as being one of the most widely watched sporting events in the world, hosting the final is a real coup for the Welsh capital.

However a lack of top quality accommodation in the Principality has meant fans and sponsors are looking further afield for somewhere to stay.

This includes DoubleTree by Hilton, Bristol City Centre which, once news that Cardiff was to host the final, was swamped by calls from football fans keen to secure a room at the popular four-star hotel.

And although no one knows who the final will be against in June, won’t prevent the hotel from being full of football fans in the run up to and aftermath of the final.

John Dowling, general manager of the Redcliffe Way-based hotel said: “It’s not just DoubleTree by Hilton that is benefitting from the Champion League final but other hotels across the city.

“For us as we’re located practically opposite Temple Meads means fans will be able to hop on a train and be in Cardiff in about an hour.

“The hotel’s brand, one that is known and trusted across the world, has also helped push room sales.

“To have fans from clubs such as Real Madrid, Bayern Munich or Paris St Germain possibly visit the city is a fantastic opportunity for Bristol to showcase itself to visitors from other countries and we must look to build upon this opportunity not only as a standalone venue but as a city.
