Cancer Charity Makes Digital Impact with Tech Grant

Teenagers and Young Adults with Cancer (TYAC) the UK’s only membership body for professionals involved in the care of teenagers and young adults (TYA) with cancer, has launched its new website thanks to the help of digital grant charity, Transform Foundation.

The launch of the improved TYAC website was the last stage of the charity’s rebranding which took place throughout 2016, following the organisation receiving official charity status in May.

As one of the very first charities to receive a grant from Transform Foundation, TYAC worked with the Foundation’s website grant partner and the UK’s leading charity platform provider, Raising IT, to incorporate its new look and status into the site and reflect the multi-disciplinary nature of TYAC’s membership.

Following a pledge to fulfil its charitable objectives, TYAC’s extensive resource library is now available to the general public alongside its guidance materials that are exclusive to members. A new website was needed to effectively manage, classify and display these resources in order to provide both the general public and TYAC members with an efficient portal to help raise awareness and educate medical professionals about the specialist needs of young people with cancer.

The new streamlined site has been designed to maximise ease of navigation, with content no more than two clicks away from the homepage. It also features online membership payment options, in order to encourage new members to join the organisation and further expand its specialist base of expertise in the field of teenage and young adult cancer across the globe.

The Transform Foundation was established to provide grants to enable charities such as TYAC to benefit from what technology has to offer. The Foundation brings together expertise across a range of digital sectors to future-proof charities in order to enable them to achieve the best possible fundraising results. The grant covers all aspects of the website transformation, from strategy and goals to design, development and launch.

Dr Dave Hobin, Consultant Paediatric Oncologist and TYAC Chair, commented on the digital developments: “We can’t thank The Transform Foundation and Raising IT enough for their funding and continued guidance towards creating TYAC’s new website. It is increasingly important for charities like TYAC to engage with medical professionals through technology and our new site gives us great scope to increase our membership numbers through clear and stylish design and improved functionality.

“The grant has allowed us to complete the final stage of our charity rebrand by providing the opportunity to refresh our online presence, appealing to a wider audience of specialist cancer professionals. We’ve had a great response so far.”

David Melville, Chairman of Trustees speaking on behalf of the Transform Foundation commented: “It’s great to see how our grant programme has helped improve the Digital footprint of TYAC. It’s an exciting time to be helping charities make the most of what good technology has to offer, especially when it comes to member engagement and we were never in any doubt that this grant would be money well spent.”
