Apprentice driver wins Driver of the Year Award
Dean Dodds, 25, from Blyth, has been named Driver of the Year in the annual Moody Logistics and Storage awards.
Not only is he the youngest driver of the Cramlington-based company’s 20-strong fleet, but he is also the newest, having only joined the family-owned firm 18 months ago as an apprentice.
Dean scooped the award after receiving the most votes from his colleagues – some of whom have been with the company for almost 25 years.
“I was over the moon,” he said. “I didn’t expect to win and I’m really grateful that they voted for me.”
Dean joined Moody Logistics and Storage at 23 as an apprentice driver. He said, “I really enjoy it here. My apprenticeship training has been great, I like getting out and about and every day is different. I had driven a transit van before joining Moody’s but I was then trained by the company in Class 2 then moved up to class 1 vehicles”
Managing Director Caroline Moody said “Dean is a great example of how successful our Apprentice programme has been, he did really well throughout his training and as this award shows, he is very popular with his colleagues
“We have always been committed to training our staff to the highest level and putting our faith in people who want to learn – The apprentice programme is open to anyone of any age and covers drivers, fitters and admin staff”
The Moody Staff Awards aim to recognise all staff for their commitment to the business. There are safety awards for all staff who have been accident free for the year, awards for those with zero Tachograph errors and there is an attendance award for all the administrative staff who have had no days off in the year.
Moody Logistics & Storage is a family owned and operated transport and warehousing company that was established in 1947. They have been recognised as an Investor in People since 1997 and were the first privately owned transport company in the North East to win the award.
