Hair Council Student of The Year Competition 2017

We are now accepting nominations for the 2017 Student of the Year Awards and an Entry Pack with all the competition information can be downloaded here.

In order to take part in the Hair Council’s UK Student of the Year Awards learners need to create a finished look and submit two photos of their model. Level 2 entrants will be asked to dress hair in a red carpet fashion and Level 3 will be asked to cut and blowdry hair in an innovative style of their choice.

The judges are celebrity hairdressers Jamie Stevens, Andrew Barton and Patrick Cameron. The eight highest in each category will be asked to compete in the final.

NADIA HADJALI, CARDIFF & VALE COLLEGE - LEVEL 2 WINNER 2016

“The competition was exciting and intimidating at the same time and being a finalist was already such a big achievement. This experience has had a real positive impact in my life and my confidence.“

JURGITA ALLEN, COLEG CAMBRIA - LEVEL 2 WINNER 2016

“My mother used to say she wanted me to become an ’important’ person such as a lawyer or doctor but I knew I wanted to be a hair stylist. My college gave me the opportunity to take part in the Hair Council’s Student of the Year award and I was amazed when I made it through to the finals. When I was awarded with the Level 2 Student of the year award I felt so happy and pleased that my hard work had paid off. I was able to show my mother that hairdressing is just as rewarding as any other job.“

LOUISA JONES, THE SALON GROUP - LEVEL 3 WINNER 2016

“Applying for student of the year was a big thing for me as I was just starting out my career as a full time stylist on the shop floor. I was excited just for the experience let alone winning! The quality of the work at the competition was so high, even making it to the finals was enough for me! Using this win I have been encouraged to compete in other competitions such as Wella’s Generation Now, and the Fellowships Club Star Art Team. I am now determined to get deep into this industry and push my limits of creativity, with the title ’student of the year’ always reminding me that I can do anything if I put my mind into it.“

So, if you think you’re the UK’s top Hairdressing student, or that you’ve trained them, then make sure you enter the Hair Council’s Student of the Year Competition!
