Baldwins acquires another North East accountancy practice
Accountancy practice SV Bye, based in Guisborough, Redcar & Cleveland, has been acquired by the Baldwins Accountancy Group.
Baldwins has grown from 16 to 34 offices across the country in the past 12 months, employing over 800 staff with an annual turnover of circa £50m, as part of its national strategic expansion plan.
SV Bye, whose 17 members of staff will continue to work in its office at Upper Garth Gardens in Guisborough, follows other North East accountancy firms Evolution, Rowlands and Alnwick Accountants in joining the group.
Derek Robinson, partner at SV Bye, will become a director and Jon Gresham, one of the firm’s managers, has been promoted as a director of Baldwins’ Guisborough office.
Andrew Rowe, director at Baldwins’ office in Wynyard, will also be part of the management team at the Guisborough office.
Derek Robinson said: “SV Bye has consolidated its reputation locally as a provider of specialist accountancy services across a variety of sectors, and this is an exciting opportunity to develop the business further.
“Joining forces with the Baldwins Group provides us with greater coverage and significantly enhances the resources we will have available to us to service our clients.
“The partnership will also enable us to offer additional services to businesses in the area, such as complex tax planning and corporate finance.
“We are delighted that Baldwins has a very similar culture to ourselves and we look forward to working with them and to the opportunities it will bring for both our clients and staff.”
Martin Barber, director at Baldwins and member of the North East Board, believes this is a significant acquisition that is taking the Baldwins Group’s expertise further south of the region.
He added: “Baldwins is continuing its expansion strategy this year into areas where we can continue to help businesses to thrive and develop.
“We’re delighted to welcome SV Bye to the Baldwins Group, and through our extensive network, look forward to helping them to continue to build upon the solid foundations they have developed with the businesses in the North Yorkshire area.”
