Deuren urges people to think beyond the obvious at Homebuilding & Renovating Show
‘Think beyond the obvious’ – that’s the message from bespoke door manufacturer Deuren, as the team of expert craftsmen prepare for the UK’s biggest homebuilding and renovating show.
Yorkshire-headquartered Deuren will once again be heading to the NEC event from 23-26 March, and the theme for stand E165 is inspiration.
Because, whilst doors may be a staple feature in most rooms, they can also prove one of the most exciting parts of a newbuild or makeover project, believes Deuren boss Ian Chubb.
“Many people look at a door as simply a functional fixture,” he explains. “That’s why we see them manufactured from standard materials, in conventional sizes, with a finish to match the skirting. But why is this the case?
“Because firstly, people don’t realise what’s possible, and secondly, they don’t think about the door until the latter stages of a project. This means that often the budget is blown, energy levels are dwindling, and the door is nothing more than a basic finishing touch.”
But as visitors to Deuren’s new 10,000 sqft workshop have found in recent months, the options are virtually endless when it comes to internal, external and garage doors.
“It’s our job to illustrate how the right door choice can make a vast difference to a room,” continues Ian. “I want to see people thinking beyond the obvious, and making design-led decisions, not ‘safe bets’. Homebuilding and renovation projects are so exciting after all. So why settle for the ordinary?”
Designing, manufacturing and installing all of their doors themselves, the Deuren team will therefore be on hand to offer a little inspiration to visitors of the Homebuilding and Renovating Show. With a portfolio of examples on offer, the aim is to show how impactful a door can be.
“From as little as £600, homeowners can choose a bespoke door, complete with frame, architrave, handles, latch and hinges,” concludes Ian. “So we’ll be talking tall doors, small doors, veneers, materials, colours and even adjustability, so that when new build homes ‘settle’, the door can be fine-tuned with ease.”
Deuren works with architects, interior designers, commercial clients and consumers throughout the UK. With more than 100 years’ combined door industry experience, the team has manufactured more than 3,000 doors in the last three years alone.
