Ecommerce startup backed by New Look founder launches six-figure crowdfunding campaign
An ecommerce startup which helps retailers maintain their mobile apps has launched an £800k crowdfunding campaign on Seedrs as it looks to expand its technology platform.
Bijou Commerce, which has high-profile backing from New Look founder Tom Singh and venture firm Blenheim Chalcot, has launched the crowd raise on crowdfunding platform Seedrs as it looks to build on the £2m seed funding it raise in May last year.
Founded in 2015, Bijou has developed plugins that allow retailers to synchronise and track orders, stock levels and user information across its mobile and online operations, helping to eliminate data discontinuity as more and more UK consumers shop on their mobile devices.
Tom Singh, who is board director at Bijou Commerce along with ex-Google UK Managing Director Dan Cobley, commented: “The easiest way to generate incremental revenue is to get your most loyal customers to spend more. It’s clear that on mobile, apps are the best way to do that, and Bijou’s platform is the best way for retailers to get an effective app quickly.”
Bijou Commerce Founder, Olly Cooper, believes the time is right for the company’s crowdfunding campaign, coming off the back of some big contract wins.
He said: “In the last three months alone, we have signed a partnership with Bronto, one of the world’s leading email service providers with a lengthy retail client list, and are going live with our first two transactional clients - ethical fast fashion brand Nobody’s Child, and a classic menswear brand to be announced shortly.
“Now we have the product absolutely right - which was key - it is time to start a big sales push and expand the business across the UK and beyond fashion into new retail verticals.”
