New Blue Air route connects Liverpool to Med destination ‘rich in history and culture’

Romanian airline Blue Air has revealed plans for a new route at Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA).

The twice weekly service, which will be the carrier’s eighth at LJLA, is due to connect Merseyside with Larnaca in Cyprus this summer.

The airline’s flights to Rome, Milan, Hamburg and Alicante will start at the end of March.

LJLA’s director of air service development, Paul Winfield, said: “This is a further sign of Blue Air’s commitment to the Liverpool City Region with the airline having now announced eight routes from Liverpool since first starting flights to Bucharest just over two years ago.

“This latest route development will take Blue Air’s summer schedule to 28 weekly departures from Liverpool.”

In October last year, Blue Air announced that Liverpool will become its newest European base.

The chief commercial officer at Blue Air, Tudor Constantinescu, commented: “We are extremely happy to offer a new route to Larnaca, Cyprus – a sunny destination, on an island rich in history and culture.

“Cyprus has every type of beach: popular beaches, white sand beaches, quaint beaches, and party beaches, so you will be surrounded by wonderful places just waiting to be discovered.”

He added: “We are committed to develop our base in Liverpool to meet everyone’s expectations and I am confident that this route is an important step in strengthening our position within North West England.”

Launching on June 17, flights to Larnaca will depart from Liverpool every Tuesday and Saturday.
