DMG to raffle restored Morris Minor for Charity

Black Country based David Manners Group (DMG), suppliers of spare parts for modern and classic cars including Jaguar & Daimler, MG & Triumph, Mazda MX5, Mini and Morris Minor cars, are embarking on an exciting new restoration project with the help of National Geographic and Channel 4’s Car SOS Presenter Fuzz Townshend.

After months of searching for the right car to work on, DMG have found a Morris Minor perfect for the occasion – previously owned by an incredibly generous gentleman who requested that instead of payment for the car, DMG make a donation to Birmingham Children’s Hospital. DMG have since donated £1500 on his behalf. The car is named after his late wife, Glenys.

The project is being sponsored by Lucas who will be supplying some of the parts, while the rest will be provided by the Morris Minor Centre Birmingham, part of the David Manners Group. The work is being carried out at Classic Friendly garage To-Ta Classics, dedicated to looking after classic cars just like this one. Fuzz Townshend, carrying out the work, commented “I was delighted when David Manners approached me to see if I’d like to work on the project. It’s a great way to get the younger generation excited about the world of classic cars, and I can’t wait to get started.”

Determined to prove that the Morris Minor is a viable car for anyone to run, DMG will be documenting the restoration every step of the way on YouTube with hints and tips to help budding enthusiasts start work on their own cars.

When work on the car is finished, DMG plan to raffle it off with all the proceeds going to the Primrose Hospice in Bromsgrove. The Primrose Hospice supports patients and families living with a life-limiting illness, across North East Worcestershire.

Kate Manners, Managing Director of David Manners Group commented: “Here at the David Manners Group we’re incredibly passionate about keeping classic cars on the road. We’re also delighted to be able to support the Primrose Hospice through this venture, a charity we’ve worked closely with for many years.”
