HM War Room proves to be a hit

More than a dozen business owners have entered the HM War Room since it launched at the end of last year.

HM War Room, run by law firm Hillyer McKeown’s business consultancy HM Business Growth, aims to help business owners tackle some of the challenges common to most companies.

These include business strategy, structure, employee engagement, finance, marketing, leadership, talent, business process and implementation.

To date, the War Room has welcomed companies with a turnover in excess of £12million, established family businesses, ambitious start-ups and a pre-revenue company with global ambitions.

Despite the diversity of companies in terms of size and the length of time trading, all of them have found their 3-hour intensive session invaluable in helping to answer some of the big questions they face.

Some of the more fundamental questions which the War Room has helped business owners to address have included:

• What is the right strategy?
• What is my company’s value proposition?
• What are the threats and risks to my business?
• Do I have the right team in place to deliver the strategy?
• Do we fully understand what makes a good and bad customer?
• Are my people fully engaged with the business strategy?

Ray Howard, Managing Director of HM Business Growth, said: “It doesn’t matter what size the business, there are fundamental issues which will determine how successful a venture will be.

“We have been delighted with the demand we have seen so far from ambitious businesses wanting to test their strategy and seek new ideas for growth.

The sessions, which cost £500 and include a comprehensive follow-up report, are led by Ray, along with Hillyer McKeown Managing Partner Steve Harvey and fellow HMBG director Nick Mason.
