Housebuilder continues support for charity KidsOut

Staff from Barratt Homes Yorkshire West, alongside other local businesses, attended a black tie evening of entertainment, competition and networking at Leeds’ Elland Road last week. Over 850 people attended and in excess of £110,000 was raised for the KidsOut charity, with money raised going towards helping disadvantaged children across the region.

The evening, which included guest speeches from cricket stars Darren Gough and Ronnie Irani, provided friendly competition as it was based on the popular TV show, A Question of Sport, with a fully interactive quiz taking place after a champagne reception and a gourmet meal. Each table was designated a football team, wearing the scarves of a well-known UK or European club whilst they competed, proving to be great fun for all involved.

KidsOut is a charity focused on giving disadvantaged children positive experiences to support them becoming future members of our society and workforce. The money raised will go towards providing new toys and day trips to deprived children across Leeds who have escaped domestic violence and sought sanctuary in a Women’s Aid Refuge. Last year the total raised helped 4,000 children across the region and provided over 540 toy boxes across local women’s refuges. KidsOut now supports every women’s refuge in the Yorkshire area.

Ian Ruthven, Managing Director at Barratt Developments’ Yorkshire West Division, and chair of the Kids Out Leeds committee, attended the evening and commented:

“KidsOut is a wonderful charity providing much-needed support to young people across the region, we always take great pride in being part of the event at Elland Road and wouldn’t miss the chance to support it. The evening is always a lot of fun with a great atmosphere, and the guest speeches from Darren and Ronnie were a great treat for everyone!”

Gordon Moulds CBE, Chief Executive at KidsOut, commented:

“We are holding this event up and down the country throughout the year, and I’m thrilled to say the event at Elland Road was a brilliant success again. KidsOut really does rely on events like this to help raise awareness and funds for disadvantaged children so it’s fantastic to see so many local businesses, including Barratt Homes, helping us do that. We want to say a huge thank you to all that attended, and are overjoyed that we raised over £110,000 that will go towards helping disadvantaged children across Yorkshire.”
