Roxtec showcases seals at Data Centre World 2017
Innovative cable sealing solutions from Roxtec UK are to play a central role in the construction of a custom-built data centre, due to be unveiled at a major technology expo in London this month.
The Greater Manchester-based cable and pipe seal manufacturer is taking part in Data Centre World 2017 at ExCeL London on March 15 and 16, where its products will be used to help construct a working data centre in the middle of the exhibition centre.
Expected to be one of the trade show’s biggest draws, the Live Green Data Centre will provide an opportunity for visitors to see, touch and walk through a working data centre. Roxtec UK Managing Director Graham O’Hare said the live display would also allow people to learn more about the innovative technology that goes into building an effective, efficient and safe data centre.
First built in 2016, the display captured the imagination of visitors. This year’s version will be 155pc bigger and showcase 50pc more products.
Mr O’Hare said: “We’re working alongside a number of world-class suppliers to bring this exciting exhibit to life. It’s a unique opportunity to get a close look at the full range of products that make up the data centre jigsaw, with flooring, generators, racks and safety solutions all on display.
“Roxtec safety seals are used by a wide cross-section of businesses to protect their data centres and server halls against fire, water, rodents, lightning, humidity and electromagnetic disturbances. By taking control of all these factors, firms are in a far better position to ensure nonstop operation.
“Our certified sealing solutions also prevent air leakage, making it far easier for data centre managers to control a facility’s climate and temperature. This not only helps to avoid damage to the equipment but also reduces energy costs. What’s more, Roxtec’s seals are easily reconfigured, making them perfect for growing data centres.”
Within data centre environments Roxtec seals can be used for single or multiple cables or pipes, in outer walls, between compartmentalised security zones and in control cabinets. They’re adaptable to power, fibre, coax and signal cables, as well as cooling pipes of different sizes and materials. Removable layers within the sealing modules ensure a perfect fit, and they’re ideal for use with pre-terminated cables as there’s no need to cut the plugs off the ends of the cable.
In response to growing demand for its unique sealing technology, Roxtec is now offering a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) course aimed at passing on its expertise to data centre professionals.
The Importance of Cable Planning and Sealing within Data Centres is being delivered as an accredited seminar. Attendees have the chance to learn about sealing cable entry points into data centres, the impact of environmental hazards on data centre performance and the implications of failure.
Roxtec’s team will be based at stand L52 for the duration of Data Centre World 2017, providing advice and answering questions on the company’s full range of data centre products. Roxtec will also be showcasing its sealing solutions during two presentations at the Live Green Data Centre Theatre, on Wednesday March 15 between 12:15pm and 12:25pm, and the following day between 2pm and 2.10pm.
