Electrical wholesaler CEF to bring dozens of new jobs to Durham with £11m data centre opening

Electrical products and services supplier CEF has revealed plans to open an £11m IT, data and marketing centre in County Durham.

The site, which will act as the company’s new IT and marketing headquarters, will generate ‘dozens’ of new jobs for the area according to the electrical wholesaler.

Designed by international practice FaulknerBrowns Architects, the facility is expected to open in 2018.

Pauline Kirk, Head of IT for CEF, said: “Our focus on technology and innovation is unparalleled in the industry and we have several exciting infrastructure and networking projects in the pipeline.

“With this in mind, our new Durham centre will ensure CEF’s growing IT and marketing teams are supported by state-of-the-art facilities that reflect the company’s continual commitment to excellence.

“Electrical wholesaling is a fast-paced and rewarding sector to work in, especially for software developers and IT specialists. Bringing more of these specialist jobs into County Durham is, of course, very important for CEF and for the growth of the regional economy as a whole.”

Steve McIntyre, Partner at FaulknerBrowns Architects, added: “This building embodies CEF’s continual drive for innovation, providing one of the most advanced workspaces in the North East.

“The cutting-edge building we’ve designed reinforces CEF’s culture and heritage and will support its ambition to attract the best tech and marketing talent in the region.”
