UK-Irish Trade Relations Stronger Than Ever

Enterprise Ireland, the government organisation which enables Irish businesses to achieve global ambition, is hosting a keynote event to celebrate the past, present and future success of Irish businesses’ trading position with the UK.

Ireland’s Minister of Education and Skills, Richard Bruton (former Enterprise Minister) will join notable Irish and UK businesses who will come together under the auspices of St Patrick’s Day to mark cross-border trade achievements, while gaining insight into further connecting Irish business ambition with UK opportunity.

Named the best country in the Eurozone for doing business[1], Ireland is the UK’s main trading partner. With the UK noted as the largest export market for Irish owned companies, 37% of all exports by Enterprise Ireland client companies come to the UK. As Britain enters its new economic chapter, Ireland will continue to be an important trading partner, especially as trade between UK and Ireland stands at over €1bn per week, supporting over 200k jobs in each country.

The occasion comes at a time when Ireland has also achieved a top ten ranking within the 2017 Global Entrepreneurship Development Index; with its notably young workforce continuing to drive the isle’s innovative industries forward in an increasingly competitive trading environment.

The annual event hosted by Enterprise Ireland will be held on 16 March at the Bloomsbury Hotel, 16-22 Great Russell Street, Bloomsbury, London, WC1B 3NN. It will begin with a drinks reception at 12:30 followed by two speeches from Minister of Education and Skills Richard Bruton (former Enterprise Minister), as well as Kevin Sherry, Deputy CEO of Enterprise Ireland.
