Local pharmacists bag Online Business Award

An online pharmacy company from Skelmersdale have walked away with the prestigious Online Business Award at Lancashire’s annual Red Rose Awards.

Chemist-4-U stock a wide range of top brand prescription drugs and deliver them to the doorstep, making the process hassle-free. Last year the online pharmacy saw a huge turnover of £16.9m and has been ranked as the third fastest growing SME in the country. Shamir Patel, Chemist-4-U’s Managing Director, said: “It was an honour to be considered for this award and we are all very excited about the opportunities that winning a Red Rose Award brings. We have always preferred to use local businesses and recruiting from the local area, allowing us to expand as a business. We have already set our targets for the next 12 months and they include holding on to this prestigious title.”

Held at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool, the Red Rose Awards were launched by Lancashire Business View in 2011 to celebrate the success of Lancashire business, E-Commerce and industry. The judging panel at this year’s ceremony described the team at the Skelmersdale business as “great forward thinkers, who are making revolutionary changes to their industry.”

The Online Business Award, sponsored by Bespoke | Digital Agency, was taken home by the highly-trained professional team of pharmacists.

Lauren Grice, Head of Client Services at Bespoke, sponsors of the award, said: “It was an absolute pleasure to present Chemist-4-U with the accolade. The standard of entries this year was incredibly high and it’s fantastic to see a local business taking the industry by storm. We wish the team the best of luck for 2017!”

The team of pharmacists at Chemist-4-U also offer a unique ‘online doctor’ service to help its users choose the right treatment for their condition.

Richard Slater, from Lancashire Business View magazine, said: “Everything you need to run a successful business can be supplied from the county and we see it as our role, through the magazine and at events like Red Rose Awards, to showcase the great businesses we have.”

The ceremony hosted more than 1,100 guests and the finalists had generated a total of more than £1.35bn in revenue for Lancashire.
