Hainan Airlines to expand Beijing services at Manchester Airport

Hainan Airlines has confirmed plans to ramp up its presence at Manchester Airport.

The Chinese carrier will increase the frequency of its flights at Manchester from four per week to five.

Subject to aircraft availability, Hainan hopes to operate the direct route to Beijing with its new Boeing 787 Dreamliners.

By expanding its weekly flight schedule, the airline wants to open up more opportunities for those using the UK’s only direct service to China outside London.

The company’s UK general manager, Loic Gao, said: “This added frequency shows Hainan Airlines commitment to the UK market and it responds to the increased demand for this route from Manchester Airport.

“This has been a successful route for Hainan Airlines since its inaugural flight on the 10th of June 2016, and as we approach our 1st year anniversary, an increased frequency is a wonderful way of celebrating such success.”

Manchester Airport commercial director Stephen Turner commented: “It is incredibly pleasing to see Hainan Airlines increase frequency from Manchester Airport.

“In less than a year of operation, the route proves to be incredibly popular with leisure and business passengers alike. I am sure the extra service will be welcomed by the 22m passengers in our catchment area that spans north to Scotland and south to the Midlands.”

He continued: “Hainan’s five star service offers passengers a luxury product all the way to Beijing and beyond and we look forward to continuing to work closely with the airline as they grow from the North’s global gateway.”

Hainan Airlines’ expanded service will run from June 1.
