FTL Technology Take on Industrial Wastewater for World Water Day

Today (22nd March) is World Water Day – a day set aside each year all about taking action to tackle the global water crisis. This year’s theme is wastewater.

Organised by the United Nations, the international event aims to refocus our attention to the importance of freshwater and in finding ways to ensure more sustainable water management. This year’s theme tackles wastewater, aiming to target the amount of used water that ends up polluting the environment as sewage with help from sealing solution experts such as those at FTL Technology.

Neil Thompson, President of FTL Technology said, “Our custom-engineered approach to sealing solutions means that we aren’t restricted to off-the-shelf product when recommending solutions. From identifying the problem to installing our tailored parts, we oversee every aspect of the job and ensure it is completed efficiently to minimise further water contamination or pollution. We’re incredibly proud of the work we do at FTL Technology.”

Managing it

According to Samco, wastewater treatment systems currently cost anywhere between $500,000 - $1.5 million. Organisers of World Water Day believe that these costs of wastewater management are greatly outweighed by the benefits to human health, economic development and environmental sustainability.

Solutions

Pump and valve sealing engineers at FTL Technology help water companies to enhance the efficiency of their water management. Based in Leeds, UK, their experts provide customised solutions to solve sealing problems across a wide range of industries, including wastewater management.

Due to the nature of water pollution, sewage treatment is not a process which can be ‘switched off’ while work is carried out. operational ‘down-time’ must be kept at an absolute minimum.

According to World Water Day:

Globally, over 80% of the wastewater generated by society flows back into the ecosystem without being treated or resused.

1.8 billion people use a source of drinking water contaminated with faeces, putting them at risk of contracting cholera, dysentery, typhoid and polio.

Unsafe water, poor sanitation and hygiene cause around 842,000 deaths a year.
