Sunderland Uni to sell city centre Forster Building

The University of Sunderland is selling Forster Building on Chester Road, bringing a city centre development opportunity to the market.

Commercial property specialist Naylors has been appointed as sole agent to market the four-storey building, which was constructed in 1975.

Forming part of the University’s City Campus, Naylors agency team is seeking offers for the freehold interest which also incorporates a 1.4 acre site including a large car park facility.

James Fletcher, commercial agency surveyor at Naylors, said: “This presents an excellent development opportunity right in the heart of Sunderland city, adjacent to the University campus.

“Subject to planning it could be suitable for a range of town centre uses including retail and other commercial uses.

“We have experienced extremely high levels of interest and as a result we will be going to best and final offers on 31st March.”
