Birmingham football team seal sponsorship from van business
Young Birmingham football team net kit sponsorship from city van business.
A Birmingham junior football team has been kitted out after sealing a deal with a city van firm.
Swansway Volkswagen Van Centre (Birmingham) in St Stephens Street, Newtown, donated £2,000 worth of kit to Bromford Lions under 13s replacing the team’s second hand strips.
Their blue and claret striped home shirt and their yellow and blue away jersey will now bear the Swansway Volkswagen Van Centre Volkswagen Birmingham logo on the front.
It represents another boost for the Castle Bromwich team who gained promotion from the bottom division of the Central Warwickshire Youth Football League in their debut season.
David Orme, the team’s manager, said: “It is each team’s responsibility to fund their kits and equipment and we were playing in strips that were too small and ripped.
“Volkswagen Van Centre (Birmingham) came to our rescue and we’ve now got an excellent home and away shirt and the lads look great.
“The players look the part and because of that they feel the part and their confidence has grown. We are looking to build on our promotion from Division 7 last year and the kit has made the boys feel they belong there.”
Bruce Henderson, head of business at Swansway Volkswagen Van Centre Birmingham, added: “We wanted to do what we could to support one of our local football teams and it’s a pleasure to see them kitted out in brand new shirts.
“They’re a talented side and hopefully the new kits will go to show how much faith people have in their ability.
“It gives the community associated with the club a feel good factor and we will be keeping a close eye on the lads’ results.”
