Work starts on new community near Frome
The first spade has been put in the ground at a brand-new community in Beckington.
It signals the start of work by David Wilson Homes to bring an exclusive development of 31 new homes to the village, near Frome. The development, named De Cheney Gardens, will feature a range of two, three, four and five bedroom homes
Rod Dunford has been appointed as site manager to oversee construction of the small but perfectly-formed community. Having grown up just the other side of the valley, Rod says he is looking forward to working in his home county of Somerset.
Rod, who was previously based at David Wilson Homes’ nearby Wyndham Park development, said: “I’m proud to be leading the construction at De Cheney Gardens, it’s going to be a lovely development. The fact that there are a relatively small number of homes, coupled with the innovative design, means there will be a real sense of community here. I’m looking forward to working with the rest of the construction team to bring this new development to life.”
David Wilson Homes will be working closely with the local community in Beckington while it is building the new homes. It has already helped Beckington Pre School get its annual Easter egg hunt off to a flying start by donating the chocolate eggs for the event. It has further plans to support the village over the coming months, including initiatives to help local wildlife.
Currently David Wilson Homes’ construction team is working to clear the site, off Warminster Road. The foundations of the first homes will be laid around the beginning of April.
Set in the village of Beckington, De Cheney Gardens is within walking distance of a range of facilities. Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Beckington Church of England First School is close by, as is a doctors surgery, farm shop and local pub. Frome is less than 10 minutes away and Bath can be reached in less than 40 minutes by train from Frome.
The first homes are likely to be available to buy later this year. To find out more visit www.dwh.co.uk
