Peter McIntyre, Sunderland Council

Sunderland Council has appointed Peter McIntyre as its Executive Director of Economy and Place.

Peter joins the council from the Northumberland development company Arch, where as its Chief Executive he has helped spearhead county-wide regeneration.

Before joining Arch, Peter was Director of Planning and Programme Management at 1NG, the city development company for Newcastle and Gateshead and before that held a number of planning and regeneration roles at Newcastle City Council.

In his new role as Executive Director of Economy and Place, he will be at the forefront of the next phase of Sunderland’s development as a hub of the regional and national economy.

This will involve working with and influencing a range of key stakeholders and businesses across the country, Westminster, Europe and the wider global economy, to ensure that Sunderland continues to build on its strengths in advanced manufacturing, customer service fulfilment and software.

Speaking about his new role, he said: “I’m really excited about coming to Sunderland, although it will be a huge wrench to leave Northumberland and all the fantastic people I’ve worked with in my time here.

“Having seen the developments currently underway in Sunderland and having read about plans for the International Advanced Manufacturing Park and a whole raft of other development sites this is a great time to join Sunderland and I’m really looking forward to helping them achieve their aims.”

Fraser Bennie, Alpha Process Controls

Alpha Process Controls has appointed liquefied natural gas (LNG) industry professional Fraser Bennie to lead its international business development activities.

With more than 25 years’ experience in the industry, of which nearly 20 in LNG, Fraser will support Alpha Process Controls’ presence in the global LNG market through its systems, which deliver the safe transfer of hazardous chemicals, liquids and gases.

Among his experience, Fraser was After Market Customer Service Manager for LNG Carriers at Cryostar SAS, a position he took following a period as a Project Manager for the business. He has also been responsible for business development at Damen Ship repair & Conversion specialising in the field of LNG Carrier repairs and conversions.

Fraser Bennie said: “This is an exciting opportunity to work with a company that’s gaining an excellent reputation in the LNG market.

“Alpha Process Controls has developed a suite of impressive and effective fluid transfer solutions, which meet the requirements of the sector and I am confident we can increase the application of its technology across the world.”

Christopher Whitehouse, Bradley Hall

North East estate agent Bradley Hall has appointed Christopher Whitehouse as Planning Director to head the company’s new BH Planning and Design arm.

During his career Christopher has become an accredited expert in planning, whilst also publishing a specialist book ‘The Planning Doctors Guide to Understanding Planning’ and was the winner of RICS Young Planner/Developer of the Year 2014.

The new planning and design service from Bradley Hall includes planning applications and management, development appraisals, architectural design, building regulations, planning appeals and project management.

Neil Hart, managing director at Bradley Hall, said: “We’re thrilled for Chris to be joining the team again as we continue to pursue our growth strategy in 2017.

“His knowledge of the industry and exceptional skills will allow us to expand our services to new and current clients, attracting new business and opportunities.”

Graham Tye, Newcastle Building Society

North East technology expert Graham Tye has been appointed as information systems director of Newcastle Building Society’s subsidiary Newcastle Systems Management.

The business provides technology solutions and support for both the Society’s various operations and other third party clients.

Graham, who lives in Gosforth, has worked in technology roles for more than 30 years with a range of public and private sector organisations, including the NHS, Eaga, Carillion and Northumbria Police. He now heads up the 100-strong Newcastle Systems Management ICT team.

He said: “Adopting the most appropriate new digital technologies is at the core of this exciting role, and the opportunities to continuously improve the service we can provide to customers through more agile and collaborative ways of working are tremendous.

“My new role is giving me the chance to work across so many different and interesting areas, and the team here really lives the values of the Society, taking ownership of the work they’re undertaking and operating in an unfailingly friendly and straightforward way.”

Rachel Wright, Cal Partners

North East marketing and business development consultancy Cal Partners has appointed marketer Rachel Wright.

The firm, launched sixteen months ago by Chartered Marketer and former practising solicitor, Chris Lucarelli, specialises in delivering marketing, digital marketing and business development solutions to professional services firms.

Rachel joins with ten years professional services marketing experience gained at some of the region’s leading legal and financial services firms.

Chris, Director at Cal Partners, said: “Rachel joins Cal Partners at an exciting time, helping us to maintain our growth ambitions. We work with a range of professional services organisations in the North East and further afield, including London and Edinburgh.
