200 new jobs to be created as approval given to £6m leisure development in Doncaster

A new £6m leisure development at Lakeside in Doncaster has been given the green light by the council’s planning committee.

The council led Lakeside Triangle scheme will see eight units created – three of which are already under offer by Burger King, Dunkin’ Donuts and Taco Bell.

Planning permission has been granted for five restaurants and three drive-through units ranging from 1,800 sq ft to 3,650 sq ft.

The scheme is expected to create about 200 jobs and generate income for Doncaster Council.

Peter Dale, the council’s director of regeneration and environment, said: “Securing planning approval is a major milestone for this innovative council initiative.

“Doncaster Lakeside is one of the most attractive leisure, business and residential destinations in the north and it comes as no surprise that there has been strong interest from occupiers for units at Lakeside Triangle. Anyone interested should contact our agents Pudney Shuttleworth in the first instance.”

Peter continued: “Doncaster is quickly establishing itself as a development hotspot and the council’s proactive approach to supporting and aiding major projects is seen as a big attraction for investors and developers.”

The site is located next to the Dome leisure facility, an 11-screen Vue cinema complex and close to Lakeside Village Outlet and other attractions.

The units are expected to be available from spring 2018.
