Barnsley startup reports £350k turnover in ‘outstanding’ first year of trading

A Barnsley-based business has reported a turnover of £350k just for its first year financial results.

CSP Systems, which was launched in April 2016, provides digital networked office solutions to a customer base in the South and West Yorkshire areas.

Operating from the Barnsley Business and Innovation Centre (BBIC), CSP Systems is headed by two directors, Andy Bethel and Thomas Mackrill. Service engineer Dean Middleton also joined the business.

Operating almost exclusively in Yorkshire, CSP Systems boasts a large customer base which includes Sheffield legal practice Acclaimed Family Law, Active Response Security Services and the business behind Jump Inc trampoline parks, Futures Leisure.

The business is also forecasting further growth for the next 12 months, with plans to take turnover to £400k and increase the size of the team.

Director Andy Bethel said: “We couldn’t have anticipated such an outstanding first year of trading when we started out last April. We based the business in Barnsley because of the town’s friendly business community, excellent support services for start ups and active Chamber of Commerce.

“It proved to be the right decision. We’re looking forward to giving something back in the next year by creating new jobs.

He added: “It’s an exciting time for CSP Systems and we’re all looking forward to the coming year. We have a partnership with DEVELOP which allows up to supply world class hardware into Yorkshire businesses.

“Teamed with bespoke service technology created by Dean and unrivalled response times, we’re in a position to offer a real alternative to run of the mill print and copy suppliers.”
