Barratt and the Hyde Group unveil their 1,150-home masterplan for Harrow Kodak site
Property developers Barratt London and the Hyde Group are set to deliver 1,150 new homes as part of the Heart of Harrow regeneration scheme after acquiring a major portion of the development.
The pair’s Harrow View East site will be housed on the 30 acre former Kodak Industrial Complex in Harrow and Wealdstone, and is set to deliver the new homes along with a currently undetermined number of affordable homes and 350,000 sq ft of mixed-use employment, leisure and community space.
Sitting close to the Harrow & Wealdstone Overground station, the new neighbourhood will provide transport links to central London via the Bakerloo line, National Rail and the Overground.
This is not the first time the developers have paired together for a joint venture either, after Barratt and Hyde secured the Harrow Square site back in October 2016 which will see the delivery of 318 studios, a new library and retail space
In a statement following confirmation of the project, Matt Calladine, Regional Land & Development Director at Barratt London, said: “The acquisition provides both Barratt London and Hyde an excellent opportunity to deliver new homes within the London Borough of Harrow following the recent success of the former Royal Mail sorting office at Harrow-on-the Hill.”
The wider £1.75bn regeneration scheme is part of a 20 year strategy recently signed off by Harrow Council to bring together schemes in both Harrow and Wealdstone and help solve the housing shortage in the area.
Mike Johnson, Development Director (London and Kent) at the Hyde Group, commented: “We are delighted to have teamed up with Barratt London for a second joint venture in Harrow. The housing shortage in London will only be solved if we all play our part and work together.
“This acquisition is a prime example of how partnership working can deliver many of the new homes that the people of London and the South East so desperately need.”
