Team marks first anniversary at Glasgow van centre

A new team is celebrating the first anniversary of a van centre in Glasgow with a pledge to forge strong links with the local businesses and community.

Volkswagen Van Centre Glasgow Darnley, part of the Lookers group (which includes Taggarts) is a modern motor retailer that operates from over 160 franchise dealerships, representing 31 vehicle manufacturers and deliver over 200,000 vehicles a years to customers across the UK and Ireland.

The van centre, based on Kennishead Road, now has a new dedicated team in place, led by Head of Business Stephen Whitelaw, who has worked in the motor trade for more than 30 years.

He is joined by General Sales Manager Brian Shields, from the Southside, Glasgow, and Service Manager Ian Coyle, from Croftfoot, who bring with them a wealth of experience.

Simon Horabin, Commercial Vehicles Brand Director for Lookers, said: “It is fitting that we now have a dedicated team in place as the van centre marks one year. We are forging links with local businesses and are pleased to be investing in an area that gives easy access to south Glasgow and into Ayrshire.”

Stephen, from Brookfield, said: “We are a fairly new van centre and are determined to build up a strong reputation for meeting and exceeding the expectations of our customers. The site opened as part of an expansion by Lookers and we aim to build more of an awareness of the service that we can provide.”

Brian, who started a career in the motor industry in 1997, said he had taken on the role as he was determined to build on customer relationships and develop his team. He added: “The customer is centric to everything and we are here to provide a service, and be the go-to guys for VW vans.”

Ian, who has worked abroad for many years, said: “I have experience working with different cultures and have built up a vast knowledge of the motor trade, especially through managing different skill sets and techniques. There are exciting times ahead.”

One member of the Lookers team who is especially pleased to be marking the van centre’s first anniversary is Franchise Director Duncan McPhee who originally comes from Campbeltown.

He said: “I am delighted that we are investing in the local area. We are really committed to creating the awareness of this fantastic new facility and are determined to deliver an exceptional customer service.

“We have a great team with decade of experience between them place to move the van centre forward.”
