Special Easter Gift for Buckshaw Retirement Village Residents

Residents at Retirement Village are set to receive special Easter gifts thanks to kind staff at a neighbouring logistics company.

The charity committee at Unipart Logistics, made up of senior administrator Tracy Birch, manager Richard Bachelor and site instructor Phil Wright, are set to visit the village to donate dozens of Easter Eggs to the residents within communities at Buckshaw Retirement Village.

Residents at specialist dementia care home The Lodge and assisted living environment The Grange will each receive a chocolate egg. The company has also donated a large egg to be raffled to residents in the independent living apartments, The Court, with all funds raised donated to the village to use for future activities.

Phil Hill, director at Buckshaw Retirement Village, said: “We are all delighted with the kind donation and the sense of community support which comes with it.

“It was a great surprise to find out that the company wanted to provide gifts for the residents in both the care home and assisted living environments. We hope that this can be the start of a fantastic friendship moving forward.”

The residents at The Grange and The Lodge are also set to enjoy a Swinging Sixties Easter party, complete with entertainment and dancing as part of The Grange’s musical journey activities programme.

The journey will take residents through the 1940s to the 1970s, with a month dedicated to each decade. Each month will see residents take part in themed activities including games and crafts, with performers, live entertainment and celebration events.

Tracy Birch said: “We held an internal fundraiser to raise the money for the eggs as we wanted to give back to the community.

“We know the fantastic environment that Buckshaw Retirement Village provides for our older relatives, loved ones and community members, so we wanted to donate a little something to support that.”
