Adlington invest almost £80 million in expansion

In a major boost to local economies, Adlington, a developer of communities and luxury apartments designed specifically for the over 60s, has announced plans to open seven new sites in 2017, investing almost £80 million and creating a total of 385 new homes across the North West and Staffordshire. The new sites will generate 175 local jobs employing a full time, multidisciplinary team to design Adlington’s buildings, whilst subcontracting to a broad spectrum of trades during the construction phases.

The new developments include Adlington House in Urmston and Brooklands House in Stafford, which are now under construction, and five other sites in Macclesfield, Cheadle, Southport, Rams-bottom and Romiley. The plans to launch the new developments highlight the demand for quality homes for older people and Adlington’s expansion goes some way to addressing concerns raised in the recent Housing Whitepaper, by providing the older generation with the opportunity for independent living in a suitable environment.

Demonstrating its ongoing commitment to growth and development within the retirement development sector, Adlington also announces its investment of two new recruits to its team. Joining from a director’s position at Caulmert, Allan Smith has been appointed as Structural Engineer and brings several years of experience in construction consultancy, as well as broad knowledge of the building industry to Adlington. Jonothan Croft also joins the team as Senior Land Manager, bringing over 20 years of experience within the retirement development and house building industries. Both Allan and Jonothan have predominately worked in the North West during their careers and are delighted to be helping contribute to the growth of the economy in the area, as well as Adlington’s ambitious expansion plans for 2017.

Claire Reede, Sales and Marketing Manager from Adlington, said: “We’ve seen demand for retirement homes expand very quickly recently and the new sites we are opening will provide over 60s with the choice to move to a luxury community with excellent facilities on their doorstep.

“We’re also thrilled to be expanding our team and are delighted to welcome Allan Smith and Jono-than Croft into the fold. Both bring extensive knowledge and experience within the retirement development and construction sectors and we expect to see a real impact on the business as we continue to grow this year.

“In 2016 we launched Adlington House in Otley, West Yorkshire, which proved to be our fastest selling development to date and we’re keen to continue building on this success throughout 2017.”

Adlington’s developments all offer tailored 24-hour on site care and support for homeowners, should it ever be needed, and are carefully designed with safety and security in mind. Homeowners enjoy generous living and dining spaces, fully-fitted, quality kitchens and a balcony or patio to their apartment, as well as the use of a spa suite offering a variety of relaxing treatments. A table-service restaurant, hairdressing salon, sociable lounge area and an activities and crafts room are available for residents to enjoy.
