On-a-Roll takes on Race for Life

INNOVATIVE food-to-go specialist On a Roll is swapping bread rolls for running shoes this summer, to raise money and help beat cancer.

A group of ladies from On a Roll Sandwich company, based in Teesside, is teaming up to take part in Cancer Research’s Race for Life in Middlesbrough.

The Race for Life takes place on Sunday June 4 in Centre Square in Middlesbrough town centre. Members of staff from across the company are taking part in the run in order to raise as much as possible for the charity.

Karina O’Hagan, HR Manager at On a Roll, said: “A team from On a Roll has decided to take part in the Middlesbrough Race for Life this year to show our support for such a worthy cause. We all know someone who has been affected by cancer and the event is a great way to raise much-needed funds, and have a bit of fun while we do it.

“Some of us have lost friends and family members & some currently have family members fighting cancer now. Also we lost a fantastic member of the team last year after a long and brave battle with cancer and we will all be thinking of her too.”

Every two minutes someone in the UK is diagnosed with cancer and over the past two decades, the Race for Life events, held in over 150 locations across the country, have raised millions of pounds to fund lifesaving research.

Karina said “This year’s race for life is the first time anyone on the On a Roll team has done anything like this. We’re just proud to be doing our part and helping to raise money for a cause that is important to us all.”

Helen Stoddart, General Manager at On a Roll, said: “The Race for Life fever has taken over and we’re really proud of the ladies who have signed up to take part. “Some enjoy the fitness and running aspect, others are running in memory of friends and family, but all are determined to raise lots of money to for a fantastic cause.”

The award winning sandwich manufacturers have become well known in the food-to-go industry for experimenting with new and innovative flavours, such as their ‘World Pantry’ range.

This year the company celebrated its 10th Birthday with the news that they had been shortlisted for the Northern Powerhouse Northern Lights Awards, alongside international giants Nissan and TBA Protective Technologies.
