Funding joy for Derby community association
A community association has been gifted £750 towards the cost of new equipment by a national housebuilder. Chellaston Community Association who oversee the management of Chellaston Community Centre in Derbyshire have received the donation as part of Persimmon Homes’ Community Champions Scheme. The centre which is self-funded has applied for the money towards the cost of two new lockable noticeboards. David Cartwright, chairman for Chellaston Community Association said: “We’re extremely pleased to have been successful in our application for funding to enable us to buy two new noticeboards and leaflet dispensers. The centre is well-used with fitness, dance, education and social events being held here. We’re keen to give residents the chance to promote events and causes, but our current homemade boards are sometimes the subject of random fly posting about non-community related matters. “We hope to use the two new noticeboards for information about upcoming community events and general notices for the area along with a range of pamphlets and information leaflets.” Nadine O’Dowd, sales director for Persimmon Homes North Midlands added: “We’re pleased to support this big community cause. Chellaston Community Centre provides a vital meeting place for residents to take part in various activities and engage in different social events. “Everything we do at Persimmon is about creating truly great communities for our customers to live in and this is an example of how we are supporting doing just that. “We encourage similar charities and groups to apply for funds to help support them in the amazing work they do for their local communities.” For further information about the Community Champions scheme and how to apply people can visit the website at https://www.persimmonhomes.com/charity/
