Manchester fintech firm AccessPay to create 60 jobs with £2m funding

Fintech firm AccessPay has marked the beginning of its sixth year in business with a £2m funding injection and blueprint for overseas expansion.

Having secured a £2m finance package earlier this month with Clydesdale and Yorkshire Bank’s Growth Finance team, the Manchester company has revealed plans to embark on a recruitment drive and establish an operation in the US.

The cloud-based payments technology provider, which currently employs a team of 35, will use the funding to take on as many as 60 new employees across developer, sales, operations and marketing roles before the end of 2017.

Later this year, AccessPay also hopes to expand across the Atlantic.

CEO Anish Kapoor said: “We are very excited to be at the forefront of the fintech movement in the North.

“We are privileged to be playing a leading role in helping move the UK’s finance scene forward, both through software development that delivers the next generation of banking and payments as we know it, but also working with industry bodies to help shape conversation around future legislation.”

The new £2m injection follows a £1m funding boost secured in 2016.

He continued: “I am incredibly proud of the entire team at AccessPay for the support and desire to help drive the business forward, and create a brand that has attracted the backing of investment to all us to move forward with our vision for being both a leading employer in Manchester, but also an innovator in one of the UK’s oldest and critical marketplaces.”

AccessPay’s software enables organisations to automate payment transactions through one platform. Current clients include automotive data company Clifford Thames and European research giant CERN.

AccessPay was founded by Stockport entrepreneur Ali Moiyed, the creator of a smart inhaler device he hopes will save the lives of thousands of asthma sufferers globally.
