Avant Homes to deliver £93m North East residential projects

Avant Homes, the North East housebuilding firm, is set to boost the region’s housing stock with hundreds of new homes across four developments valued at £93m.

The Sunderland-based company will build 392 homes in the Acomb area of Northumberland, Kenton Bank Foot in Newcastle, Chilton in County Durham and the Teesside market town of Guisborough.

In Acomb, Avant will develop a mix of 39 two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom homes on Garden House Bank Lane.

Groundworks on the four-acre £12.9m development are underway, with construction due to begin in August. The development’s first homes will be ready for occupiers in Autumn 2017, with the whole project to be completed in 2019.

In Kenton Bank Foot, planning has been secured for 57 houses on Station Road. Work on the scheme, spanning six acres and worth £16.8m, will start in April for completion in 2019.

On Rectory Lane in Guisborough, Avant will deliver 114 homes across a mix of two-, three- and four-bedroom properties. The £26.7m scheme will be finished by September 2017.

Lastly, the firm has been awarded outline planning consent for a two-phase project to build 182 three- and four-bed homes on a 14-acre site in Chilton. The development is located off Durham Road and valued at £36.5m.

Construction to deliver the first 92 properties will start this month, with the full build programme lasting around five years.

Scott Varley, Avant Homes’ managing director for the North East, said: “We have had an extremely strong start to 2017 and the purchase of these four new sites will take our portfolio of developments in the region to 14.

“Our focus as a business is on building innovative design-led, family homes in prime locations and these new developments allow us to continue to deliver on our strategic growth plans.”

He continued: “Homes at these developments will include our all-inclusive enhanced specification and innovative house designs, both of which set Avant Homes apart from other housebuilders and challenge convention in the housebuilding sector.”
