Stagecoach is taking 33,000 sq ft across three floors

Stagecoach moving 200 jobs to One Stockport Exchange

Bus operator Stagecoach is moving into the recently completed One Stockport Exchange.

The firm signed a 15-year deal with developer Muse Developments and Stockport Council to take 33,000 sq ft across three floors.

By the end of 2017, Stagecoach will have relocated around 200 roles from existing offices in Stockport and elsewhere to its new base.

One Stockport Exchange is located next to the town’s train station and forms part of the wider £145m Stockport Exchange regeneration project, which is itself part of the council’s £1bn ‘Investing in Stockport’ investment programme.

Muse is delivering the scheme in partnership with the authority.

A letting for the building’s remaining office space is currently in legals. Further, a Sainsbury’s Local has opened on the ground floor.

Stagecoach Services MD Mark Haberfield said: “As our business requirements have expanded over the years, we have outgrown our current offices so it is great to have found suitable premises in Stockport.

“The new offices will provide a better working environment for staff, improved facilities and an environment which is better suited to the needs of our business.”

Wes Erlam, Muse’s development director, commented: “This letting is great news for Stockport Exchange and the wider town centre. We’re looking forward to welcoming Stagecoach to the scheme, where they will be able to take advantage of the excellent location, transport links and nearby amenities.

“The development has already physically transformed the area next to the train station and these lettings, along with the Holiday Inn Express and Sainsbury’s Local, will really put Stockport Exchange on the map as the town’s newest, most exciting commercial district.”

Wes added: “We are in advanced discussions to lease the final floor of the offices which would result in a fully let building only six months after completion.”

The council’s Executive Member for Economy and Regeneration, Cllr Kate Butler, said: “This is a major vote of confidence in Stockport from a major employer in the Borough. I am pleased to see Stagecoach reaffirming that Stockport is a great place to base businesses for both employees and employers.

“More than this, it marks a major milestone for the Stockport Exchange redevelopment, which is now at near full occupancy.”

She added: “It is great to see the private sector now reflecting the confidence in Stockport that the Council has shown through major regeneration initiatives such as Stockport Exchange.”

Cushman & Wakefield and CBRE are joint agents for One Stockport Exchange, which was designed by architects Aedas RHWL.

Peter Grant, of property consultancy Montagu Evans, represented Stagecoach on the transaction.
