Durham CCC extends Port of Tyne sponsorship deal

Durham County Cricket Club have announced that Port of Tyne have renewed their shirt sponsorship deal with the club, just days after extending a similar partnership with local law firm Muckle LLP.

The deal will see Port of Tyne, which is one of the UK’s major deep sea ports, remain as the club’s Royal London One-Day Cup shirt sponsor for another three years, extending the partnership to 2019.

The club is currently plying its trade in the Second Division of the County Championship after financial help from the England and Wales Cricket Board to clear its debt saw the club relegated and receive a 48-point penalty.

However, the club has moved to retain key sponsorship deals this year, having also announced an extension to their three-year sponsorship deal with Muckle last week.

Durham CCC Chairman Sir Ian Botham, said: “Port of Tyne are a long-standing, valued sponsor of the club and their name has been synonymous with the on-field successes over recent years.

“They have shown outstanding commitment to the club over a number of years and the next three years gives us the chance to build on an already exceptional relationship.”

Susan Wear, Director of Corporate Affairs said: “We’re proud to continue our partnership with Durham County Cricket Club – one of the North East’s great assets.

“It’s important we get behind the club as it takes on the challenges ahead to retain first class county cricket - and the national and international profile that brings - for the whole region.”
