Spotify to treble the size of its London base with ‘significant’ recruitment drive imminent

Music streaming giant Spotify looks poised to treble the size of its London base as it closes in on a deal to take space at the Adelphi Building.

According to the Evening Standard, the Swedish tech firm is set to agree a lease with property investor Blackstone to take 60,000 sq ft at the upmarket West End development which overlooks the Thames.

The business currently occupies a 20,000 sq ft building near Oxford Street, employing 180 people according to its most recent UK accounts from 2015.

Quoting unnamed sources, the Standard speculates that the move will trigger a ‘significant’ recruitment drive at the streaming giant ahead of a major push to increase its UK market share.

If Spotify does make the move to the new building, which sits just off the Strand, it will join the likes of The Economist and Finsbury at the Grade II-listed Art Deco landmark which as sat on the site since the 1930s before Blackstone embarked on a £30m refurbishment after acquiring the building back in 2012.

All parties have yet to comment on the rumoured deal.
