Wrexham firm named first in Wales for expertise as it opens innovative Business Development Centre for clients

An innovative Wrexham firm of accountants is staying ahead of its competition by setting up a Business Development Centre for its clients.

And John Davies and Co has just become the first independent firm in Wales to be awarded platinum status for expertise in Xero, the UK’s leading

cloud accounting software package for SMEs.

A total of 50 clients joined staff at the Yale Business Park premises for the opening ceremony and to celebrate the Xero platinum partner status.

Clients can drop in to the centre for demonstrations of the latest cloud-based accountancy and business related software that they can apply in their own businesses.

Director Tim Davies said: “Accountancy is changing. Old-style accountancy will not be here in five years’ time.

“Now, it’s all about giving advice on systems and processes to get clients to be more efficient.

“Some clients didn’t know that they could use their mobile phone to take a picture of a receipt when they are out and all the financial details including the VAT element will be read and automatically imported into the accounting system.

“Similarly, suppliers can email invoices directly to the software. Both processes save the client valuable time in processing their transactions and reduce the risk of manual data error.

“Our new set-up means that we can help small businesses use the latest cloud technologies and benefit from real-time information, together with proactive business and tax advice.”

Nathan Monshin, owner of SiRisk of Mold, a client for three years, said: “We have already been benefiting from the expertise of Tim’s team in Xero, as they helped us set up the business three years ago and have kept teaching us along the way. It is so useful that they now have a dedicated business development centre, that I, or my staff, can drop in to learn more. We’ll be making plenty of use of it.”

Xero managing director, Gary Turner said: “We’re really pleased the team at John Davies and Co have progressed to Platinum Partner. Through the combination of Xero and John Davies and Co’sdepth of knowledge and commitment, business owners can keep on top of their cashflow and see their business thrive.”

Tim Davies added: “An accountant’s role today is all about improving business. John Davies and Co wants to be an integral part of client’s businesses, giving advice as if we are their internal financial director.

“We’re providing the SME with a bespoke finance department and systems that they couldn’t ordinarily afford, using new technology.”

Clients will be able to drop into the business development centre for demonstrations of a range of cloud-based accounting software, as well as training from John Davies & Co experts in latest software and techniques
