Avant Homes to build 200 strong housing development in Killingworth
North Tyneside Council has given Avant Homes the green light to build 200 new homes in Killingworth, with 50 properties set to be ‘affordable’.
The go ahead comes after George F. White’s Planning and Development team worked with Pod Architecture to design the scheme, resolving potential noise and access issues.
The site will feature 2, 3 and 4 bedroom homes and will deliver highway improvements, including the widening of the west bound A1056 to two lanes where it joins the Weetslade roundabout.
In addition, residents will have direct access to the adjoining wagonways and public rights of way to the surrounding areas, including Weetslade Country Park.
Stephanie Linnell, a Senior Planning Consultant at George F. White, said: “Despite a number of technical objections and the challenging nature of the site, the planning team worked closely with North Tyneside Council to secure a positive outcome, informed by technical reports and utilising bespoke solutions, which will result in the delivery of high quality homes on the site by Avant.”
Scott Varley, Managing Director at Avant Homes, added: “George F. White’s Planning Team has done a fantastic job in securing planning permission for this development and we intend to commence construction as soon as possible.
“The planning and development detail and problem solving that went into the application was excellent and really demonstrated the expertise George F. White has in complex, major planning applications and resolution of controversial and challenging issues.”
