Covent Garden to host Adam Handling’s second The Frog restaurant
Former Masterchef: The Professionals finalist, Adam Handling, has revealed the location of his second The Frog restaurant after the successful opening of his first eatery in Shoreditch last summer.
The chef will be opening the new restaurant at Southampton Street, Covent Garden this August after taking a 2,929 sq ft unit previously occupied by Thai restaurant Manorom Too.
Encompassing 90-covers, the new venue will be set across two floors and include what is described as a ‘speakeasy-style’ basement bar along with a large open-plan kitchen, serving up Handling’s modern British fare.
Ahead of the launch, Handling said: “I’m hugely excited about opening the new restaurant this year. The Frog E1 has been so well-received and set the standard for The Frog as a group, and the new restaurant will be rooted in those foundations but also have its own, distinct and more formal style with its own dishes and weekly-changing menu.
“The new site will draw a different clientele to the first restaurant in Shoreditch, and I want it to be unlike anything else currently available in Covent Garden.”
Following confirmation of the new site, which leisure agents Restaurant Property secured on a 20-year lease, Matthew Englender, Head of Sales at the firm said the deal marked a continuation of their fruitful relationship with the chef.
He commented: “We have been working closely with Adam Handling since he worked at the St Emrin’s Hotel, in order to help him secure a flagship restaurant for his “The Frog” brand.
“I am delighted to announce that we have now exchanged on a restaurant space within a prime pitch of Covent Garden. We look forward to working closely with Adam and his talented team in the future.”
It’s a partnership that will look to continue for the foreseeable future after Restaurant Property confirmed that they had been retained by Harding for all future The Frog sites.
