Stagecoach Merseyside and South Lancashire invests £6.8m in new smart-tech buses
Travel operator Stagecoach Merseyside and South Lancashire has spent £6.8m on new smart-tech buses.
The eco-friendly double-deckers, set to be rolled out across the firm’s Liverpool to Kirby 20 and 21 services, bring the company’s total investment in its fleet over the last 18 months to £17m.
Stagecoach said the decision will allow it to operate a more sustainable and cost-efficient fleet.
The vehicles are equipped with free WiFi and USB charging points for passengers, along with leather seats and audio CCTV.
The new buses also operate with advanced start/stop technology, which cuts down on fuel usage and emissions.
Rob Jones, the managing director of Stagecoach Merseyside and South Lancashire, said: “We’re very pleased to be upgrading and investing in our fleet to ensure we’re able to continue to offer passengers the very best, fully equipped, sustainable buses.
“These spacious double-decker buses prioritise passenger comfort with large leather seats and also include USB electronic charging points so our passengers can stay charged up, despite being on the move.”
He continued: “Ensuring we’re regularly updating and improving our fleet means we’re able to operate a more sustainable, efficient and cost-effective service.
“This has wider positive implications for our team, our passengers and the environment and we’re very pleased to have this great new fleet operational and on the roads.”
