£8m investment delivers turnover growth for Bury-based site welfare provider Garic

Site welfare provider Garic has achieved a record turnover after investing over £8m in its operations.

The Bury-based company pulled in sales of £22m during the 12 months to December 2016, up by 12% against the previous year’s figure.

Garic said the increase is in line with the target set out in its three-year growth strategy.

In addition to the revenue rise, the firm secured a raft of large contracts.

Among them was an agreement to supply property developer BCEGI with construction site welfare products for Middlewood Locks in Manchester, a 24-acre regeneration project at the gateway to the city’s central business district.

To date, BCEGI has taken delivery of a two-storey, 68-bay ‘village’ comprising stacked and interlinked welfare and office units.

Within the modular complex, Garic incorporated a fully equipped kitchen and 180-seat canteen, along with open-plan offices able to accommodate 250 site workers and 60 office staff. The facility also has changing rooms, toilets and showers.

Garic MD Colin Hotchkiss said: “We made fantastic progress in 2016 and 2017 has started very positively indeed.

“ver the past twelve months we’ve made significant strides in delivering our business strategy which has resulted in growth across all areas of the company and we’ll continue to invest in our people, fleet, depots and transport infrastructure to support this.”

He added: “A further £7.2m investment has been earmarked for 2017 – this is on top of the £8m spent last year – and we plan to open more depots following the successful introduction of our Midlands branch last March.”

Garic confirmed that the £15.2m investment total will continue to facilitate its commitment to research, development and ongoing enhancements across its range of welfare products.

Speaking further, Colin said: “All of our investment is either centred on developing innovations that help reduce the environmental impact of the construction industry or enhance our customers’ experience. For example, we have invested further in our patented Eco Plus solutions and are about to launch another site welfare market industry first!

“We already have one of the largest and fastest growing welfare fleets in the UK and with our expansion plans it looks like we’re in for another busy year!”
